Marco Hannappel, graduated in business administration at the University of Florence, started his career in Procter & Gamble, where he held various positions of responsibility until his appointment as Market Strategy and Planning Leader of the Health & Beauty Care Division for Italy and then of the Oral Care division for Western Europe, at the European headquarters in Geneva.

He later gained experience in Beiersdorf and Philips where he was Vice President and Managing Director of Philips TV for Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Malta and President and Managing Director of TP Vision for Southern Europe. He joined Samsung in 2013 and served as Vice President of Samsung Electronics Italy. Since 2011 he has been Vice President of Confindustria Anitec-Assinform with national delegations to Electronics and Environment.

Since April 1, 2019, he has been CEO of Philip Morris Italia, where he pursues the company's mission to build a smoke-free future. As of April 1, 2020, he is also President of the subsidiary. Starting in February 2023, Hannappel will assume the position of European Vice President and President of the Southwest Europe Region of Philip Morris International.
